Refund Policy

1. Overview

This policy explains when refunds and cancellations are available for paid subscriptions to MTD Landlord Services, operated by MTD Landlord Services Ltd (company number 16989676). It should be read with our Terms of Service. Nothing here reduces your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law. Our Free plan is provided at no cost and is not subject to refunds.

2. 14-Day Cooling-Off Period

When you first take out a paid subscription, you have 14 days to change your mind and request a full refund under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Because MTD Landlord Services is a digital service, this right is lost once you have used a paid feature — for example, by submitting data to HMRC, running an AI receipt scan, or inviting a co-owner.

3. Cancellation

You can cancel any time from your account settings. Your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period (monthly or annual) and then stops. We do not provide pro-rata refunds for unused time within a paid period.

4. When We Will Refund

We will refund you in full where:

  • You have been charged more than once for the same period.
  • An incorrect amount was charged due to a system or administrative error.
  • The paid service was not made available to you due to a fault on our side that we cannot resolve in a reasonable time.
  • A payment was taken without your authority (e.g. after cancellation).

5. When We Will Not Refund

Outside the cases above, refunds are not available, including:

  • Choosing not to use, or under-using, the Service during a paid period.
  • HMRC rejecting, querying or amending a submission because of the data you provided. MTD Landlord Services submits the figures you enter; it does not verify them.
  • Penalties, interest or fines charged by HMRC (see our Terms of Service).
  • HMRC API outages or other third-party interruptions outside our reasonable control.

6. How to Request a Refund

Email support@mtdlandlordservices.co.uk from your account email, including the charge date, amount and reason. We aim to acknowledge requests within 2 business days and resolve them within 14 days. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method via Stripe and typically appear within 5–10 business days.
